I dont understand why the two world wars were so close together. Was it just unfinished business or were they both initially over different things? Do people fight just for the sake of fighting because it seems that way with WW2. No one except the Germans really wanted to fight i thought, everyone just had to react to Hitler being selfish. Did the allies know that Hitler was killing the Jews or were they just fighting because he was trying to expand Germany?

The wars are inextricably connected for sure. In fact, Hitler said that National Socialism (Nazi Party) was born in the trenches of World War I. And it was the governing policy of the Nazis to tear up the Treaty of Versailles and restore Germany to its place of honour in the community of nations.
In terms of the 1939-1942, countries opposed Germany because they had no choice (they were invaded/attacked) or they were fighting to limit Germany's expansion. Later in the war when the stories of the death camps turned from rumor into fact there was an additinal motivation to defeat Germany, i.e. Save civilization from the brutality of the Nazi.
