The Canadians were couragous and outstanding fighters and earned their respect on the global stage as a strong and independant nation. We eventually earned our own seat in the League of Nations due to our fighting, and the Germans were terrified when they heard a Canadian force was coming to the front. We were used as storm troops and burst through German defences. The Canadian advancement of 130 kilometers took from August 8 to November 11, and became known as Canada's Hundred Days. In this time we captured 31 537 prisoners, 623 guns, 2842 machine guns, and 336 mortars. On the same day World War I ended Canadian troops entered the Belgian city of Mons, which was the first battle between British and German troops in 1914. I love the fact that Canadians were such good fighters and couragous in the war, it makes me proud to be Canadian!

I confess to two things: I hate war because it's absolutely stupid, wasteful, destructive and rarely do people/countries emerge out of it for the better.
But I am also proud of the accomplishments, courage and valor of my countrymen (back in the day and currently in Afghanistan).
