When I read through the text book or just hear about the early 1900's or before, I always find myself amazed at the advancements already made in their technology. Maybe I just don't give the people of that time enough credit. When I think of the old days I think of how basic their cars would be. The technology of having a timed machine gun on the front of the plane that shoots through yet misses the propellers is amazing. An average 7" propeller runs at 15,000 RPM I can't even imagine how precise the calculations would have to be to make it work. One billionth of a second off and that plane goes down.

There were some pretty cool inventions back then, weren't there?
You can find some pretty nifty feats of engineering if you go back to the ancients.
