The Canadian railway really helped develop Canada.Chinese people came over, helped create our country and we paid them less then half the regular pay, treated them poorly, and used them to do work we didn't want to do. The Chinese people actually played a huge role in our country yet we treated them horribly. They helped stabilize our economy by opening up laundries, stores, restaurants and spending their money in our country. It seems we just trying to get the most money we could out of them by taxing them when they immigrated, not paying them enough-cheap labour, and using them to do the dirty work we didn't want to do.

You've just described the essence of capitalism. Profit, not people, is what matters. That's one of the reasons why it's important to have government regulations in place to "watch" corporations and ensure workers are treated fairly, the environment isn't being destroyed, and that the accounting practices of the company is on the up and up.
