I understand that New York had to be evacuated because of the Royal navy. And Nova Scotia just happened to be the closest safest place to go away from the Continental army. So does this mean that Canada was just a safe place for people from all over just to go? It seems like our country is just a landing place for people who don't belong anywhere and they all just ended up here because they had no where else to live. This could be why we have to many immigrants and people from so many different countries living here.

The Loyalists came to Nova Scotia/Quebec because these colonies remained firmly in control of Britain. So yeah it was a safe place to go; moreover, traveling all the way back to England probably wasn't much of an option considering how many people there were (and how few ships were available to make this happen).
