So the English come over to North America and colonize it. There are also others there with established colonies such as the French and the Americans. The American revolution was about government; the British were very conservative and believed that even though North America was not England everyone there should still be loyal to the Queen. The Americans disagreed and believed that there was no reason for them to pay dues to a different country than their own. They believed that the Queen was a useless "leader" and they should be using their wasted tax money for their own purposes in their own country. Of course they wouldn't have minded paying taxes to the Queen if they were allowed to have a say in the way the money was used and how the country was run; Britain refused to allow that to happen. The Americans decided to rebel and form their own government, a democracy that would be run by the people of America instead of the British. This is a large part of the causing of the American Revolution.

Just a couple things, Emily. The monarch of the time was King George III. We currently have a queen (Elizabeth II). Also, the Americans were "English". So the English and Americans didn't establish separate colonies. The ENGLISH established AMERICAN colonies.
